The family of actor Chad Lowe and producer Kim Painter confirmed that their middle daughter died at 13, and asked for prayers and privacy.

Fiona Hepler Lowe, the daughter of actor Chad Lowe and producer Kim Painter, has died at age 13, her family said. The Lowe family confirmed the news Tuesday, Sept. 29, in a statement shared with People magazine.
"We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona," the family said. They described her as "a loving young girl who was smart, creative, and loved to dance."
"She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents," the statement continued. "In fact, she was the light of our lives." The family said her death is devastating for all of them and asked for prayers and privacy.
The statement did not say how Fiona died. It closed with a message for anyone struggling with their mental health, directing them to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, which can be reached by calling or texting 988.
About Fiona and her family
Fiona was born Nov. 16, 2012, and would have turned 14 this November. She was the second of three daughters. Her older sister, Mabel Painter, is 17, and her younger sister, Nixie Barbara, is 10. Lowe, 58, and Painter, 52, married in 2019. Fiona's middle name, Hepler, was the maiden name of Lowe's late mother, and it is also the middle name of his older brother, actor Rob Lowe.
Last year, Lowe marked Fiona's 13th birthday with an Instagram post. "Celebrating Fiona officially becoming a teen today!!" he wrote, adding, "Keep dancing through life FiBear! Love you soooo much!!"
Her birthday came months after the family lost their Pacific Palisades home in the wildfire that struck the Los Angeles neighborhood in early 2025. In February of that year, Lowe wrote on Instagram that his daughters had finally been able to see what remained of the house where they grew up, nearly a month after the family evacuated. He said he was "in awe" of their "spirit and resilience," and called being their father his "life's greatest joy and privilege."

Chad Lowe won an Emmy for his role as Jesse McKenna in the drama "Life Goes On." His other television credits include "Pretty Little Liars" and "Supergirl." Rob Lowe is known for films and shows such as "The Outsiders," "St. Elmo's Fire" and "Parks and Recreation."
Fiona is survived by her parents and her sisters, Mabel and Nixie.
