Jim Carrey has married his longtime girlfriend, Min Ah. A spokesperson for the 64-year-old actor confirmed the news Wednesday, Sept. 30, in a statement to PEOPLE and in a separate confirmation to Entertainment Weekly.
The confirmation did not include a wedding date or location. TMZ reported that the couple exchanged vows in a small, private ceremony in Los Angeles, a detail that has not been independently confirmed in the information available. Australian outlet Nine.com.au also described the ceremony as reported and said it had contacted Carrey's team for comment.
Who Is Min Ah?
Min Ah, who is also known as Minzi, is described in reports as a Los Angeles-based actress and artist. She is 32.
The couple has been linked for several years. Photos published in February 2022 showed them leaving a charity comedy show hosted by Judd Apatow at Largo in Los Angeles. Even so, Carrey has said little about his private life, and details of the relationship have been scarce.
A Public Debut in Paris
Carrey and Min Ah appeared together publicly as a couple on Feb. 26, 2026, at the 51st César Film Awards in Paris. Carrey received an honorary César that night. His daughter, Jane, and his grandson, Jackson, were with them.
Carrey gave his acceptance speech entirely in French. He thanked his family, then turned to his partner. "Thank you to my sublime companion, Min Ah," he said, adding, "I love you, Min Ah." His daughter, grandson and girlfriend received ovations from the audience.
The evening also drew unusual attention to Carrey's appearance. Online theories claimed someone else had appeared in his place. His publicist, Marleah Leslie, responded with a statement that Carrey attended the ceremony and accepted his honorary award. The head of the awards also rejected the claims, according to Nine.com.au.
Carrey's Earlier Marriages
This is Carrey's third marriage. He married Melissa Womer in 1987, and they had a daughter, Jane, the same year. The two divorced in 1995, according to the sources. In 1996, he married his "Dumb and Dumber" co-star Lauren Holly. That marriage ended in 1997.
Carrey had previously suggested he would not marry again. In a 2008 interview with Britain's Weekend Magazine, he said, "If you've done it twice, you really should stop doing it." In a 2014 appearance on Howard Stern's SiriusXM show, he said he did not see marriage as necessary, though he added that he could not make "hard, fast rules about the future."
He was also linked to his "Kidding" co-star Ginger Gonzaga. They made their red carpet debut in January 2019, and Us Weekly reported they split that October.
A Quieter Life Away From Hollywood
Carrey has spoken in the past about stepping back from the spotlight. In a 2022 interview with Access Hollywood, around the release of "Sonic the Hedgehog 2," he said he was "fairly serious" about possibly leaving acting. He said he would consider a project only if it felt truly important. He described enjoying painting, his spiritual life and time with family, and said, "I have enough."
No further details about the wedding, including the date, the guest list or whether the couple plans to share more, have been released.
